If they want to prevent scalping this undoubtedly will be a successful method. HOWEVER, how many Tom Waits fans want to line up( or sleep over)for that matter??
ReplyDeleteMaybe tickets going on sale at 3:00 p.m. might be more appropriate.
Pity for folk who were prepared to travel for a concert but can't travel to queue up. Would be great to see these restrictions applying to online sales and prevent the chaos we have experienced in Europe with fans disappointed in not getting tickets only to see them appearing at vastly inflated prices on e-bay within hours.
ReplyDeleteany idea how much these tickets will cost?? -thx
ReplyDelete$115.00 + "applicable facility fees and service charges"
ReplyDeletewebsite doesn't say how much that is
On my way home from work Friday at 5:30pm there were about 10-12 people in line.
ReplyDeleteWell as a matter of fact over 400 folks were lined up by the time tickets went on sale. Around 200 of us spent the night (I was number 3 in the line).
ReplyDeleteThe Commodore management and staff did a fantastic job of seeing that the experience was a fair and safe one for us all. They made the wise move of relocating the line off of Granville Street (a place that is sketchy at the best of times)to just around the corner where we were provided with a washroom and some very helpful, kind, and professional security staff.
Once the tickets went on sale I was in and out of the venue in less than five minutes. Big Time thanks to the Commodore for helping to make this all happen!
Thank you Commodore!
ReplyDeleteWe got in line at about 6:30 am Saturday, the lineup was about 450 long at that point, but I got my 2 tix, as did many behind me. Many ahead of me were getting single tickets.
Hopefully out-of-towners that wanted tickets had a buddy in town listing them a guest. Tough policy, but at least it thwarted the &*^%$%! scalpers.
I'm walking on air - have tix for the Orpheum show too!
I was lucky to get a ticket to both nights.
ReplyDeleteThis is probably a stupid question, but do you think Tom will have his piano with him at the shows? There is none on 'Real Gone' that's why I'm wondering. I'm sure he will, but just thought I would ask.
You Canadians are lucky, lucky people. Any chance of a set list being posted by any of you after the weekend shows? I've still got more than a month to wait until the Berlin and London shows.
ReplyDeleteAt the Commodore show Tom played (not in this order): Make it Rain, Hoist that Rag, Dead and Lovely, Metropolitan Glide, Shake it, Day After Tomorrow, Sins of the Father, Don't go into that Barn, All Stripped Down, Get Behind the Mule, House Where Nobody Lives, Heartattack and Vine, Invitation to the Blues, Temptation, Lucky Day, Tabletop Joe, Kommienezuspadt, Misery is the River of the World, and Jockey Full of Bourbon. I can't remember any others right now. Actually, maybe Green Grass too. From reviews I read about the Orpheum show the night before, he mixed up the older tunes and played Hang Down You Head and 16 Shells. Everyone and everything about the show was brilliant. Played for two hours and did one encore.
