Blog note

To post comment, you need to be a "registred user" from now on. Not something I really want to impose on you all, but I was getting tired of deleting the "Keep Tom off the internet" comments. The advantage is, that guy (or girl) called "Anonymous" wil have to come out of the closet.

"FREE TOM FROM THE INTERNET."
HIS MUSIC HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR ONLINE BULLSHIT. KEEP HIM IN YOUR HEART, WHERE HE BELONGS.
AND FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, DON'T MAKE TOM WAITS RING TONES EITHER?
YOU WANNA COMMODIFY HIM, JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER ARTIST OUT THERE?
REAL WAITS FANS DON'T MAKE WEBSITES OR BLOGS ABOUT HIM.
FREE TOM!!!!"

This was the latest in a series of similar comments on various posts. I didn't have a problem with the first one - it's an opinion as valid as the next one - but after a dozen or so, I sort of got the point. Never could stand those caps either.

I'd like a ring tone of Downtown train. Thus is Tom my prisionner? Good!!!

This sort of behavior follows that juvenile pattern of wanting to horde your favorite artists. The idea that the more exposure they get, the less cool they will be in the future.

I suppose that applies to bands like Weezer, but certainly not Mr. Waits.

It's good that you're taking action.

Mostly I just wanted to say that it's great to have this blog around. I'd been looking around for a while to find a place to get Tom Waits news as it happens.

Now if only there were one of these for Nick Cave as well, then I could live happy...

Did you ever notice.
The more capitalization you see in a comment usually is an indicator of a higher percentage of dopiness?
Oh it's true.
Thus,
Should you always attempt communication in Capital letters.
You are always a goof.

*wonders if this has any connection with recent issues on my tomwaitsfan.com forums*

I dont know for sure yet. Right before the crash I was getting over 50000 sql requests in a day (which is in-freakin-sane). I am trying to get someone at my hosting site that will understand the questions I am asking... which is a bit harder than it sounds.

I will try to get them back up one way or another very soon. I do have a fairly recent DB backup.

Good news!
I managed to get the TWF forums back up. I dont think it corresponded w/ the spammer. It turned out to be a difficult to track SQL corruption.
Back in business!
