Glitter & Doom release date

Amazon.co.uk looks to be the first to give us a release date for the upcoming Glitter & Doom live album: November 24. That and the price (£16.09) is all there is available right now.

Amazon.com has an item listed as "Glitter & doom" as well, but that seems to be the seven inch single from Record Store Day.

UPDATE (Sept. 29): Amazon.com now have another "Glitter & Doom" version listed, which seem to be the (full) live album.

Corbijn book already published?

I'm not sure what to think about the release date of Anton Corbijn's picture book.

Publisher Schirmer/Mosel says the book will be available in April, 2010, but Amazon.co.uk, seems to have it in stock and claims it is "usually dispatched within 1 to 2 weeks".

And according to Amazon.com the book says "out of print -- limited avialability".

Strictly Temptation

The UK television show Strictly Come Dancing used Tom Waits' Temptation for Rav Wilding's dance in the second episode of the current season.

I can't watch it, because of YouTube/BBC regional restrictions, but those of you in the UK can watch it here.

Waits as calendar boy

Tom Waits is one of the musical icons featured on the limited edition charity calendar issued by HMV.

His picture by Anton Corbijn brightens up November 2010 with a quote from Dylan Thomas' A visit to grandpa's:
You're a weak little pony Jim to pull big men like us
The 'My Inspiration' calendar can be found in HMV, Waterstones and on hmv.com for £7.99 Proceeds of the 18-month 2009/10 calendar are going to CLIC Sargent, an organisation supporting for children and young people with cancer.

Talking about Corbijn, looks like the release date for his book with Waits pictures is postponed till April next year. No dates announced over at Amazon yet.

Parnassus premiere pictures

Pictures from the premiere of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus at the Toronto International Film Festival over at Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus support site, Yahoo
and Life.

Live LP

I've only just recovered from the news we can expect a new (vinyl) version of Orphans and here's another piece of interesting information: on his blog A Bucket of Ashes photographer Michael T. Regan announces Tom Waits will use five of his photographs to appear on the live album he's releasing this fall.
Tom Waits: Glitter & Doom Live is a collection of songs taken from his recent tour through the US and Europe. ANTI- records has informed me that one of the images will run as a full 12" panel on the inside of the gate fold LP jacket.
The shots are from a photo essay Regan did for Phawker.

Tom Waits to attend Parnassus premiere

Just repeating what ANTI- has to say:
Tom Waits will be attending the gala premiere of the upcoming Terry Gilliam (Brazil, Time Bandits) film “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday Sept 18th. The stunning fantasy film, which stars the late Heath Ledger as well as Waits as The Devil, follows the leader of a traveling theater troupe who, having made a deal with the Devil, takes audience members through a magical mirror to explore their imaginations. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus opens in the US on Dec. 25th (Christmas Day)

For more news on the movie I recommend you check Dreams (a Terry Gilliam fanzine) or the Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus support site.

Orphans vinyl box set

A vinyl box set of Orphans is to be released somewhere in December.

This set includes 7 (seven) LP's on 180-gram vinyl, a deluxe 12" lyric booklet and a deluxe pull-out case. And, most importantly six extra songs:

Crazy 'Bout My Baby (2:04), Diamond In Your Mind (5:08), Cannon Song (2:59), Pray (2:59), No One Can Forgive Me (4:56) and Mathie Grove (6:31).

I'm told the retail price is a mere $149.98.
