Tom Waits was
not awarded a Grammy last night.
Orphans was nominated in the catagory "Best Contemporary Folk/Americana Album (Vocal or Instrumental)", but that award went to
Steve Earle for
Washington Square Serenade, an album on which he does cover
Way down in the hole.
I'd say Waits is relieved. When he won "best alternative album" for Bone Machine a few years back his typically cynical reply

The Grammys are a pile of junk.
