ASCAP Award for Way Down in the Hole

During the 19th annual Film and Television Awards gala held on April 21st at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) honoured Tom Waits in its category for ,,composers and songwriters who have written the themes and underscore for the highest rated network series during the period of Jan. 1 ‚ Dec. 31, 2003''. Waits was mentioned for the composition of Way Down in the Hole, The Blind Boys of Alabama's version of which used as an opening theme for the HBO series The Wire.
