Bringing you all the Tom Waits news since 2004
For those of you who are wondering, I'm abroad for a week or so, but I've got an anonymous source covering for me. And a good thing it is too: a tribute and a (short) performance by the man himself... Maybe I should get away more often?
What an amazing evening! Tom openend the event with a piano version of "Cold Water" with Larry Taylor on upright. Then the all star cast read from "Immpossible Blvd." They were all very moving. It was quite something to be maybe 80' from such an impressive line up of people. A very intimate setting, maybe three hundred to three-fifty seats at most. Tom sounded great, he performed three songs throughout the evening. "Tom Traubert's Blues" was second (amazing)and he ended the nights event with one, I have to admit I didn't know, "You can't hold back spring". It was a short number something like "Bend down the branches". If anyone knows if a recorded version of this exists please let me know. A great performance for a great cause, truly a wonderful evening. Thank you so much for the tip, Hail the eyeball kid!
Is that the song he did for the Robert Benigni movie? The soundtrack was supposedly released but I can't find a copy... http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=6994099&style=music&cart=281788386&BAB=E
gwuerxthanks for the info, found it on amazon.
That song is the "Bend Down the Branches" theme from the animated short "Bunny". If you haven't seen it, buy the DVD. Waits did the entire soundtrack and the film is really cool.
P.S. I bought the "Bunny" book and DVD at www.ipicturebooks.com. It may be on Amazon too. Chris Wedge did the film.
Is this the same version of "Bend Down The Branches" as on the "For the kids"? (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00006L7QX/qid%3D1096070253/sr%3Dka-1/ref%3Dpd%5Fka%5F1/103-2780558-3711037)
