A study through cover songs

Empty mirror books has another articel on line: Introduction to alchemy: a study of Tom Waits through cover songs by Robert Wright, as sort of follow-up to his earlier article, Tom Waits's Inspiration on Songwriting. He also lists a top five of best Waits covers. Please don't blame me, but they include Rod Stewart's Downtown train...

You also might want to check out an article An article in The Huffington Post entiteled "Tom Waits meets Super-Joel". It is about Joel Tornabene, a name that probably does not ring a bell, but How's it gonna end from Real Gone has a lyric "Joel Tornabene lies broken on the wheel".

Ugh... he also includes The Eagles... it looks like he just took the most well known covers

But also skimming through his other article was sort of painful.... so who knows
