Black Rider in Sydney

The Black Rider - the theatrical collaboration between Robert Wilson (direction, set and lighting) William S. Burroughs (text) and Tom Waits (lyrics, music and original music arrangements) - is the centrepiece of Australia's Sydney Festival, which is held this month.

Marianne Faithful was to star as Pegleg, but she dropped out due to illness. She has been replaced by Nigel Richards. There are performances scheduled at the Sydney Theatre on January 11-14 and January 17-22.

I know I should have posted this earlier, but better late than never.

A version of it is also playing Vancouver this week. It was a theatre company from Edmonton (Alberta, Canada) that got the rights to it a while ago. Aparently Tom also saw it in New York and gave his blessing to them!

I saw the play here in San Francisco. It was like a staged acid trip. The music production was superb. Don't miss it.
