Underground in Robots

The song Underground is used in Robots, the new animation movie by director Chris Wedge. The cast of this story about a genius inventor in a world populated entirely by mechanical beings includes Halle Berry, Robin Williams, Drew Carey, Mel Brooks, Ewan McGregor, James Earl Jones and many more.

Yep, that's right! The song is played during a scene at an assembly-line... The song contributes to the whole setting and atmosphere of the movie, however I have to state that the movie itself is pretty dumb and boring! So long!

it seemed to me that they added some orchestration to it. can anyone confirm this? it sounded pretty good but i'm not sure how i feel about them messing with tom's music.

Yes, I distinctly heard an orchestra backing the song.

It seems Blue Sky, the company behind Ice Age and Robots, is Tom Waits approved.

The Studio's first animated short has a Tom Waits OST and Song. Its titled "Bunny" and is rather good and is an extra on the ICE AGE double disc set.

I think it is a horrible use of Waits music. As far as I can tell, the carfirm Opel has used a Waits-song(or a sound-a-like) in a new commercial(at least here in Norway(probably other places too)). It plays very low, so I`m not sure if it is Silent Night, but it is most certainly a christmas-song with a guy very much like Waits. I know how he hates use of his music in commercials, so I hope he can put a stop to this one too....

The singer in the mentioned Opel commercial is definately not TW, but the producers for some reason want to bring a kind of "Blue Valentinish" or "Tom Traubert-esque" feeling to their product. Absurd!
