New biography

As mentioned earlier, there is a new Waits biography to be published by Omnibus Press. According to Amazon.com
the release of The many lives of Tom Waits is scheduled for November 1. The author is Patrick Humphries and if the number of pages (400) is anything to go by, this new book looks to be more extensive than Humphries' previous work, Small change - A life of Tom Waits

Thanks to Radical Wacko and Jarlath.

It might be more extensive than his first book, but that first one was horrible! Let's hope it's better written as well!

The Amazon link is fixed. Sorry about the mistake.

Yeah, I'm with Karate Boogaloo. That first book wasn't worth the read. I'm skeptical of this one.

This is bound to be an updated reissue so is likely to be just as horrible as the original! Sorry guys!!

Well, he has since written a half decent account of Nick Drake's life (as well as biographies on Richard Thompson, Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon and a few others), so he may have learnt a few things (i.e. how to write) since he put out that hideous book on T.W. ...

...Or, as the late, great Frank Zappa once said...

"Most rock journalism is people who can't write, interviewing people who can't talk, for people who can't read".

I'm reading it now, it's pretty devoid of actual content. I'm learning a little, but I wouldn't recommend it.
