Jarmusch movies for download

Filmmaker Jonas Mekas has invited several filmmakers to make short films for the video iPod. One of the filmmakers is Jim Jarmusch, whose three short films - Relaxation, Hagfish and Murder in the Red Barn - all feature Tom Waits. The movies are $ 3.99 or $ 6.99, depending on the quality. There's also a preview available at Jonasmekas.com.

UPDATE: I have not downloaded these files myself, but please be advised that some people have had some trouble in doing so. Do feel free to post any info on the comments so we can all benefit from your experience.

I have downloaded and paid for these files, but they will not play. Can anyone help? I receive the message: 'error 2048: the file is not a movie file' for each of them. Also the largest of the files is no bigger than 31.2 MB on my PC, when they should be up to 1.4 GB.

Thanks.

@DrPod,

Sorry to hear this. I would suggest you try and contact the site and see what they have to say. Please do keep us informed, so that others can avoid the same disappointment.

False alarm - problem solved. I simply re-attempted the download, but one file at a time. Less speed, more haste. Still, I've never known such short clips take such a long time to download.

Despite my previous comment indicating that I had solved the download problem, I have been unsuccessful with the 3rd download (gfish). I would be eternally grateful if anyone could send me a copy, should it be that the web-site in question is not able to help me.

People who downloaded it, can you put it on rapidshare, megaupload? Thank you

As this is commercially available, I stronlgy recommend you do NOT share this through a peer-to-peer network or any other illegal means.

Posts pointing to this kind of sites will be deleted. Sorry, but that is the way it is.

S'ok - problem solved for good by the people at the website in question. The technical problem was very much with my PC, so don't be discouraged.

No doubt about it, I was gobsmacked at how long it took to download them; and your remarks suggest I must've overstated the problems with my hardware/software. As for the clips themselves, the quality is poor. They look like they were filmed on a mobile phone. In fact, they're decidedly jumpy.

Rip-off.

I respect your opinion, eyeball kid. Specially, when you're the owner of the blog, but not everybody can pay for the videos. And sharing information it's not a crime, its a service. And if you do it for free, how can it be wrong? Fight "industrial piracy", not exchanging of information. My all life I've shared things with other people. With the internet, the only thing that changed is the velocity and the format.

Hope to see the videos in youtube soon. Time Magazine can't be completly wrong.

Sorry for my english.

Cheers from Portugal.

A really big thanks for the blog. Its fantastic.

@ Paulo Duarte Barbosa

I realise that not everybody can afford to pay for these video's. But I'm afraid that's not good enough a reason. It is not as if we are talking about essential (life-saving) goods. If I can't afford a BMW, that does not give me the right to steal one.

,,Sharing information it's not a crime, its a service'', you say. I consider these video's to be something else than mere ,,information''. And even information has a price.

,,And if you do it for free, how can it be wrong? Fight "industrial piracy", not exchanging of information.'' The artists lose money (since you're not paying). Maybe not on a big scale, but nevertheless.

And on top of all those reasons (which I firmly believe in), I also take this stand from a more practical point of view: I want to build something with this blog, and in the long run, that is not going to work if I promote illegal activities.

I respect this one. But the other discussion it would be to long to take place in here.

Cheers once again and keep up the good work.
