Ticket FAQ

[UPDATED with BARCELONA and SAN SEBASTIAN info - June 5]

There is a lot of confusion about the policy regarding ticket sales and the measures to prevent scalpers from making life hard (not to mention expensive) for the genuine fans.

So I have tried to list some of the answers to questions you might have below. But please do keep in mind most of this is second-hand info, so if you can correct or complete the data, don't hesitate to do so.

GENERAL INFO:

* Tickets are strictly limited to two (2) per person/credit card per show. You can buy pairs of tickets to different shows.

* Exceeding this ticket limit may cause all tickets being cancelled without notice. This includes orders associated with the same name, e-mail address, billing address, credit card number or other information.

* On entry to the venue all patrons must present a valid ID with photo (passport or driving licence) matching the name on the ticket(s) in order to gain entry to the venue. Failure to provide matching valid ID will result in you not gaining access to the event.
If you purchase two tickets, both patrons must be present at time of entry to the venue.

* All tickets will be scanned for validation on entry to the show.

* No resale allowed under any circumstances. Any tickets resold will be refused entry to the venue.

* Only tickets purchased from official outlets will be valid.

* Due to all the measures, shows are not selling out so fast as during the last tour. Dublin and Edinburgh maybe being the exception. But even there tickets might still drop. So, if you lucked out, perseverance might do you some good.

US tickets:

The US shows are 'paperless'. This means you must not only bring a phot ID to the show, but also the credit card with which you bought the tickets. The card will be swiped upon entry of the venue.

European tickets:

As far as I can gather, you do not need to bring your credit card to the shows in San Sebastian, Barcelona, Prague or Paris. So for those shows you could use a family member's card to purchase tickets. It would seem this also applies for the Edinburgh shows, but I'm not quite sure about that. For Dublin and Milan, the credit card used to purchase the tickets must be the same as the name on the tickets, although it is not explicitly stated you need to bring that credit card to the show.

San Sebastian / Barcelona:

Tickets are only on sale via telephone. And the bad news is it doesn't seem the call center was quite prepared for the rush on tickets, so a lot of people couldn't get through.

Keep trying seems the only advice for the moment: July 3, 9:15 am (local time) there were still tickets available for the San Sebastian and Barcelona gigs. Later on the day, the San Sebastian show was declared sold out.

Another reader suggests trying the Spanish line on the automated if you really don't get through on the English speaking line. It might not work if the person in the call center really can't (or won't) master a few words in English, but if you get your foot in the door you never know where it might lead.

Several people have confirmed the Spanish outlets are only taking the passport info and name of the person buying the ticket, not the guest.

Apparently there will not be sent a confirmation e-mail.

Milan:

Tickets bought through Ticketone.it or the calling center, can be picked up at the theater box office the day of the event, from 3pm. When picking up the tickets, you not only need a photo ID, bt also the confirmation email you received. Written authorization from order holder is not admitted.

Some people have found their confirmation mail caught in the spam filter.

Prague:

There is quite some confusion about the number of tickets you can order for the Prague shows, especially because the Englis version of the website states: "one ticket per a registered user" (sic).

Fans inquiring about this, have received somewhat contradictory answers. One received a message saying "1 user = 1 order = 1 ticket. If you want to go with your friend, he or she will also need an account", whilst another was told "there is a limit only for order: 1 order = 1 ticket, not for the account".

And then there was a mail stating "Yes, you can make two orders for both concerts"...

The Czech version of the Ticketpro initially said 'one ticket per transaction' (i.e. not user) for orders made via the online system and two tickets for orders made via email at ticket@ticketpro.cz. The email option is only available for locals, as these tickets mail delivery within Czech Republic. There is also a warning that mail orders are not connected online to the booking system and will be sorted gradually and that emails received before sales start time (9 a.m. local time) will not be accepted.

After an update the (Czech) site now says 'one ticket per person', so each ticket would mean a different user account. No mention of credit card identification, so it would seem the same card may be used for payments by two (or more) users. This might be a problem if two people want to sit next to each other...

Paris:

Some buyers have received confirmation mails with "placement libre" (general admission) instead of a row and seat number. This was due to a computer fault, which made it impossible to assign exact seats to buyers. If you return the confirmation mail with the urgent request to assign you a seat number, a follow-up mail will do so.

In Paris, both tickets will be carry the name of the buyer. The name of the guest is not yet needed.

Tickets can be pikced up on the night of the show at the box office from 6 pm. Photo ID and booking confirmation is needed.

Edinburgh:

Ticketmaster will contact all customers to collect the name of your guest (you must reply to Ticketmaster within 7 days).

Only the person purchasing the tickets and the guest will be admitted on the night. Names will be printed on tickets and EVERYONE must bring a form of photo ID on the night – the purchaser must also bring the card used to make the booking.
Tickets will not be dispatched until 2 weeks before the event.

Dublin:

Ticketmaster.ie asks that the credit card used to purchase tickets belongs to the person who is attending the show.

I want to make it clear, this is all info I have been able to gather from different sites, mailing lists, individual e-mails and comments on the blog. So do not hold me responsible for the accuracy of the content above. Proceed with caution and when in doubt, contact the outlet concerned. And let me know how that turns out.

Sorted two tickets for row b dublin on the 30 july, the greatest joy for me is taking my daughter who is now 21. I remember when as a baby her mother giving me hell for playing "Franks Wild Years" whilst her and her twin sister were asleep in their cots, she is over the moon about getting the opportunity to see Mr Waits, I must have done a great job bringing her up . To all of you who are planning to go to Prague: I called the Ticketpro agency in Prague today. They told me that you DON´T have to be the owner of the credit card used to buy the tickets, the only important thing is that your name on the ticket matches with the name on the ID, even though they put the information on their official site that you DO have to be the owner of the credit card. So, if any of you is confused, the best thing would be to call or send an email to the agency and ask your questions directly, because the ticketpro.cz site sucks and is very confusing.(as well as the most of the other ticket sites).

I got a ticket thanks to a friend. Long time listener (in Dublin), and made the trip to London in 2004.
To be honest, I'm a bit gutted by both the prices and the runaround required to purchase tickets with credit cards and things. I was lucky to get a ticket, but fear I'll be watching the show with overpaid solicitors, doctors, stockbrokers. Don't get me wrong - friends of mine are in these professions - it's not a thing against the professions.
It's just a feeling that the crowd will be quite exclusive, and probably include many 'Comped' types (clients of advertisers, big businesses, etc.), who aren't the 'genuine fans' that the scheme is pretending to assist.

Great overview. Thanks, Kid.

I have some additional info for the Paris show...
Tickets will be ready to be taken the night of the event at the production box office of the venue. Desk will be open at 6.00pm. Picture ID and e-booking confirmation will be requested.

samecli said...

Alice,
thanks for the info!
I was worried about the same thing..

herge65 said...

I now don't think that the anti-scalper rules are working. I have not heard from ticketmaster yet for my name and the name of my guest and I will still have 7 days in which to respond. It gives touts plenty of time to sell a ticket and get the buyers name. Ebay has a number of tickets for Dublin and Edinburgh. I think it has made a dent but next time round the scalpers will not see this as any threat at all!

Bobby said...

I'm confused about the Prague rules - only one ticket per person? Surely you can buy 2 tickets and sit next to a friend? This makes no sense, and I hope it's just bad translation into English on their website. I tried to call them just now but I guess I've missed their office hours. I've already bought flights to Prague for my girlfriend and I, and now I'm wondering if we'll even get a ticket each - or at least if we'll get tickets next to each other. Very weird indeed. I guess we'll just have to see what happens tomorrow.

Joe said...

Thanks Eyeball, I wouldn't have known to email Paris over my seat numbers had you not run this article.

Agree with Bren's point on Dublin. I deliberately chose not to go to what would be my home venue as I suspect large chunks of the crowd will be soul destroying gits.

Alice.. said...

I received the same email from Prague today: "1 user = 1 order = 1ticket." Nothing else. Now I see, other fans also sent emails asking the same question as me and everybody got a different answer. I am so angry about the ticketpro.cz. I´ve called them at least 5 times and sent 4 emails, and they just can´t give away precise informations. What they do is very unprofessional, and the people who are answering the phones there can hardly speak english, not to mention german (and they are very unfriendly too.) There´s nothing we can do now than sit and wait until tomorrow 9:00. If there is a god I hope he will be watching over all of us tomorrow, we´ll need it.

lamp said...

Oh my God! This can be true! Prague = One ticket per person???? Im really angry!! I bought 2 plain tickets already...

If you have any new info, share! I dont think I will sleep tonight.

Alice.. said...

To Lamp: Don't worry. Nobody said its one ticket per CREDIT CARD. It says one ticket per REGISTERED USER. So you and your friend will just have to make two accounts at ticketpro.cz. Or at least I hope so...

lamp said...

To Alice:

Hi!

Yeap, but still I dont think its gonna be easy to get sits next to each other. I'll try. At least Im gonna be there - and I can talk with my friend on the phone...Its a crazy rule, but what can we do? What seats are you trying to get, Alice? Close to the stage or balcony? . I'll try to get the red zone tickets, but if not Im going for the balcony.

Good luck tomorrow!

Vitek said...

Re Prague tickets: I am Czech, so I guess I can speak the language... but I do find the Czech information confusing as well, and even somewhat different from the information provided in English.
The Czech text says: ONE ticket per TRANSACTION (i.e. not USER) for orders made via the online system and TWO tickets for orders made via email at ticket@ticketpro.cz. I guess the email option is available just for locals, as the info mentions only mail delivery within Czech Republic. There is also a warning that mail orders are not connected online to the booking system and will be sorted gradually and that emails received before sales start time (9 a.m. local time) will not be accepted.
Hope this helps a bit. I myself want to buy two ticket with the same credit card (two registered users). I will try the online booking system first.
The whole matter is very confusing indeed. I guess Ticketpro must be the Czech equivalent of Ticketmaster as far as creating confusion and anger goes...

Vitek said...

Prague update: the Ticketpro website has now published detailed sales terms (in Czech): it's ONE ticket per person, so each ticket means a different user account. No mention of credit card identification, therefore I presume that the same card may be used for payments by two (or more) users.

Carnival Bob's Confession said...

Thank you Vitec- some confusion still however I too would like to buy two tickets to see My Hero hoping to travel from UK with my wife. Do we both have to register with ticketpro . Do we have to buy tickets separately? Does this mean we won't sit together - Its a bit weird.

Carnival Bob's Confession said...

Sorry "Vitek".

Alice.. said...

Hey Lamp!

I will try to get the red zone tickets as well, but meanwhile, after all I've been trough now, I will consider myself happy if I manage to get any tickets at all. I've given up on the thought that my sister and I will sit next to each other, but it doesn't matter. All that matters is to get the tickets...

Vitek said...

Carnival Bob's Confession: No worries about the misspeling of my name... I guess you better register each separately. Ticketpro usually uses a seating plan allowing you to buy specific seats for this venue. That's how I plan to get two tickets next to each other... All information so far seems to indicate that you simply cannot get two tickets at once via the online booking system.

Bobby said...

Has anyone managed to get Prague tickets? What's the secret? Can't seem to get anywhere!

Vitek said...

Seems like the Waits section of the Ticketpro site is overloaded and down

Vitek said...

or the sales have not even begun yet. It's hard to tell. The site falls down whenever you get to the critical point of trying to order tickets.

lamp said...

Damnn!

I cant even log in...Did anyone get the Prague tickets already?

Bobby said...

I'm logged in and keep clicking on the 'Click here for tickets' button, but get either a failed response, or 'event not found'. Maybe the server's down. Maybe they sold out already?

lamp said...

Uffff...I though I was the only one. I mannaged to log in, I tried to use the search option but they dont seem to have Tom Waits concert in the event list - in July its only Suzane Vega.

Good luck, people!

I think it's like that cause lots of people have to log in twice to buy extra ticket for the second person. I hope it's not sold out yet! Damn! Damn! Damn!

Vitek said...

Same for me. Either the server's down, or the sales system was not even launched yet and sales will start later- would not surprise me. We're used to a bit of 'maňana' here...

Now I almost had them!!!! I tried to log in to the online shop and it worked, wrote TOM Waits in the search option and found the event, I even been able to choose one ticket from the red zone then when i clicked on the sitting chart the server went down. Maybe its working and the lucky ones already got the tickets...

Bobby said...

finally got 2 tickets. Front row - don't worry, there are plenty left. Keep trying. I logged in twice, once for me, once for my girlfriend, and used the same credit card (hers is not a VISA). It seemed to work!

Signed up so I could reply and hopefully help out RE: Prague. I needed two tickets for myself and a friend (i'm not travelling from Wales, UK to sit there on my own). I registered with the site under my name, logged out and registered again under my friend's name and then ordered one ticket with each account. Success! The adress was the same for both accounts as I don't know my friend's adress. I'm coming to Prague =D

Kurtzekiel said...

My tickets are for the red seating area too so that's not sold out I guess, or wasn't five minutes ago.

Anonymous said...

The links are now all right, but now I have a ticket for the 21 Jul show, while my girlfriend has one for the 22 Jul... trying to sort it out by phone, where they said it's not a problem to change the date. Good luck everyone, see you in Prague.

Vitek said...

Quick update on Prague: tickets still available for all categories on both dates, now with a seating map, allowing for coordination of places.

Kurtzekiel said...

Coordination of places only in that you can choose your seating category though right? I got two tickets for the red category but it didn't let me choose specific seats. Unless I missed that, hope not!

Kurtzekiel: The seating map application was dysfunctional again when I checked a minute ago. Usually, when the system is not totally overloaded, as was the case today, a seating map is provided allowing for the selection of specific seats. This seemed to have been working very shortly today, though.

Lamp: I am in a similar situation - two orders, the same status and no email certification at all. But I checked my credit card account and the payment has arleady been made/reserved, so I presume that one can take the status as confirmation.

THE POST I deleted was:

I bought two tickets but got only one confirmation, payed with the same card for two people. How long do you think I should wait for the second confirmation?

I tried to log in and checked the two ticket status and they are the same:
Ready to pay - Ready to delivery/pick up

Does it mean that theye are both fine?

hope so

VITEK - thanks, now I have to check my account, i think it should be OK, i checked the sitting chart again and the second sit is sold - and its not really the best place to watch the concert from, so I think I bought it too. Lets waits for the second confirmation now.

UFFFFFF....

Katre said...

Can someone please help me, i'm probably in big trouble, but it doesn't hurt to ask. My friend and i both tried to buy tickets this morning. Mine was successful, but after she filled in the card details she got an error message. So i tried to buy the ticket for her with my card with her account and i got through. Now it turns out though, that the first payment was successful aswell and there's two ordres at her account. Do you think it's possible to cancel one order?
It's strange that the website allowed two transactions with one account.

Unknown said...

can anybody help me? I already got my confirmation mail with the transaction number and everything, but on my status on the site there is : ORDER-ACCEPTED, PAYMENT:-WAITING. Its like this for the last whole hour. How is that possible, did the same the thing happen to any of you?

lamp said...

Yeap, same with me. And I didnt get the confirmation for the second ticket. Do as VITEK said - check the second account , if the money is gone you got the tickets.

lamp said...

*not "second" but "bank account", sorry

BWG said...

I don't think you should worry about payment 'waiting', they simply go slowly through the bank.

We have also ordered two tickets (with two accounts, just using the same card), and we haven't any confirmation yet for the second; but if you login at the Czech ticketpro site and view your order history, that will tell you about the payment status, and for both of our orders payment seems to be all right. So I hope it's OK after all.

Katre said...

I'm so worried, i don't know what to do, if someone knows something about a situation like mine, hopefully can answer. I sent an email, but don't know when they'll answer.

Alice.. said...

Problems problems problems: I did get both confirmation mails, but the status is still: PAYING, as well, for over 2 hours now. I tried to call them in Prague but I cant reach anybody.

Alice.. said...

BWG,thanks for the tip. I checked my order history and it says: Payed/ready to pick up, so I hope everything is fine.

lamp said...

Alice,

Just got my first ticket payment confirmation (with the link to my E-TICKET)- it took 2 hours. So wait just a bit more and it should be OK.

Now Im worried about the second ticket. No confirmation, payment - ready to pay. Lets pray.

OHH, and please cheer me up, good people! I booked two left balcony tickets, just at the front- it doesnt look good but Im short on cash this mont - had no choice. Is there a chance that I will see a bit of Mr Waits?

Alice.. said...

Does any of your confirmation mails say anything about that seat number/row you got? My confirmation mail says nothing about it, but I am happy I got the red seats and now I guess I will have to wait until I pick up the ticket to see what row I got.

Alice.. said...

I see now. The seat numbers are written on the transaction summery. Either I have row 4 seat 6 or row 6 seat 4. Still no payment confirmation yet except on my order history...

lamp said...

Alice,

Go to the ticketpro site and log in download your e-ticket - if the payment is ok, it should be there.

Im still waiting for the second payment to be done - orders list -status: ready to pay(???!!!?) after 2 hours of waiting!!!! Should I be worried?

Let me know if you have the same problem, please.

Alice,

I've checked my orders list and its still payment: ready to pay(??)

Then I loged out and tried to log in again - and then my order was gone - then I loged again and its there : ready to pay again. I bought another ticket- the cheapest one on the same name just in case that one is wrong. Maybe I will at least get the second one. It's crazy - and no respond from the ticketpro office - they accept no calls and no emails!!!!!

I think im going alone or not going at all. DAMN DAMN DAMN!!!!!!

lamp said...

SECOND TICKED PAYED!!!! THANK GOD!!!

I was so scared Im not gonna get the second ticket that I bought one extra on the same name just in case they canceld the one waiting. Now they canceled the extra one.

Good luck Alice, It took them 5 hours to get the money from me, you're next! Just wait!

Still no confirmation on my e-mail but I have my e-tickets now so I dont care!

Hi -Yes Prague Ticket Pro was a nightmare -nearly lost the will to live -kept plugging away though -got two tickets for Tues -separate seats though -Hope I can swap with someone on night.

lamp said...

Yes, a comlete nightmare. I spend almost the whole day (9-15) on the internet trying to get tickets.

-The ticketpro phones weren't working or the people responsible for picking up the phone weren't working

-They didnt do the english translation for some of the things on the site

-They put the info about the sale conditions just the day before the sale itself

-They went to far with the anti-scalpers policy

I think on the concert night we will find many people walking round trying to swap sits or talking with their friends on the phone during the concert.

A CZECH JOKE!

So I'll keep trying the number and you keep trying the number too and when you or I get through we'll shout to the other to stop trying, ok?"

i'll let you know when either of us are getting through!

Mr Hawkes said...

Yeah, this is what the tel-entrada website said - tickets only available via phone (in spanish!). I've been trying for 6 hours and no luck. Has anyone at all managed to get through.

she also says that The same thing (collapsed telpehone lines) happened with the Bob Dylan concert two years ago, their infrastructires are just not designed to deal with the kind of interest sparked by Dylan or Springsteen or Tom Waits....

Hi Tom Waits Fans!

I don't know if this is the right place for this...but I have an idea:
My girlfriend and I got tickets for the first Paris show and live in Berlin, Germany. We are planning to drive to Paris via Cologne by car and and my car would be more than happy to transport more than two people...so does anyone want to come along? I would leave from Cologne on the 23 of July to Paris and drive back to Berlin (again via Cologne) sometime after the concert? We'd split costs to keep the gas prices as low as possible for everyone...

Best regards!
