Dear Tom, congratulations on your birthday, and thanks for so many beautiful songs that have given so many people so much pleasure since Closing Time (nice title for a first album :-)).

Since February of this year I have been working hard, Tom, on twelve translations in Dutch of your songs, ranging from November, via Broken Bicycles to Take It With Me, in a colourful range. The songs and translations are ready now to fly into the world. Hope they will reach you, the inspirator, one day.

Happy Birthday as well to the Eyeball Kid, the namesake of this blog, who shares his birthday with Tom Waits. :)

thank you tom for everything you have givin me. I saw five shows this summer! It changed my life. No joke. In dallas front row tom played fannin street and was looking right at me. Id had heard the song dozens of time but never understood its meaning till that very instant. I was hooked on cocaine for years till that very life changing moment, TOM WAITS SAVED MY LIfE, listen to that song people.
Thank you tom that really happened!

Happy birthday to Tom from a fellow December baby! I can't say that seeing you in Columbus cured me of a cocaine addiction, but it was certainly a night to remember. The fact that you are such a powerful force at 59 should be an inspiration to your generation :)

Happy birthday, Tom Waits. Thank you for all the music (not forgetting Kathleen Brennan and your talented kids). I will never forget your concert this summer in Paris--such high energy and intelligent creativity. Hope you had time to wander around the city too. Keep on being quirky and funny, sharp, opinionated and caring. You give such pleasure.
