Vinyl, movie & new album...?

So, for weeks, or months even, nothing happens. And then ANTI drops a little bomb shell. A cluster bomb even, with three interesting parts.

First;
Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards - has been certified gold by the RIAA and will be released on vinyl by Anti- Records in the not-too-distant future.
And then;
Waits and his long time collaborator and wife, Kathleen Brennan, have begun writing new songs, which they plan to record this summer for an upcoming CD. (No release date at this time.)
And finally;
Currently, Tom Waits is in the midst of filming The Book of Eli, directed by Albert and Allen Hughes (...). Eli is a post-apocalyptic Western, in which a lone man fights his way across America in order to protect a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving mankind. The film stars Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman with Tom Waits in a small role as 'Engineer'.
How's that for a Thursday morning wake-up call?

All good news, and thanks for the update. I guess the moment's passed for a live album/DVD of "Glitter and Doom"?

Hi EBK
I reckon what they're not telling us is a Glitter and Doom DVD.
If Big Time is anything to go by, it would probably take time to get out, as it won't just be a live show, they'll be stitching bits of Mr Waits' forlorn characters throughout.
At least that's my hope, anyway!

There is still a legal download of the Atlanta show on NPR:

on an aside to the new movie: The Bros did "From Hell" and it was well done and pretty spooky...

No word on a Waits live date anywhere? Was hoping he'd play close to home in California sometime soon. Monterey Jazz Festival on Blues Saturday would be sweet! Regarding vinyl: I don't know, my CDs sound better to me than any old vinyl I have, and that includes three old Waits LPs: Heart of Saturday Night, Nighthwawks, and One From the Heart (the ball dropping in on the roulette wheel sounds like you're in Vegas on the CD!).

Really looking forward to the new CD - it will be great to hear some new songs from the wonderful Mr Waits and his muse (it has been quite a while). I so hope he decides to tour sometime in 2010, and that he comes to Australia. I am still hoping that a DVD will be released of the "Glitter and Doom" tour, the download is great, but I really would love to see him!!
