Dr Parnassus nearing completion

According to Dreams, director Terry Gilliam commented to some journalists that his upcoming movie The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus is nearing completion. 'We’re putting the last shots in tomorrow, and that’ll be it', he said on March 29 at the Empire Awards. 

The Dr Parnassus production team alos launched a Twitter account which will be the official source for news on the project over the next few weeks. 

Book of Eli footage

ANTI- suggested Tom Waits was involved in the upcoming movie Book of Eli by Albert Hughes, which is to be released in January 2010. Máquina de Huesos found a clip from ET Online from the movie set. No Tom Waits in sight, but a look behind the scenes and some nice quotes from leading actor Denzel Washington.

Ironweed dvd re-release

The 1987 movie Ironweed has been re-released on dvd by Lion's Gate. Tom Waits stars alongside Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson in this Hector Babenco picture. As far as I can gather no extras or special features on this edition.

Lowside book signing

Another book signing by Barney Hoskyns: tomorrow (Friday March 20th, 2pm) at Rough Trade East, 'Dray Walk', Old Truman Brewery, 91 Brick Lane, London E1 6QL. Hoskyns will also be reading from his biography Lowside of the Road: A Life of Tom Waits.

Vinyl, movie & new album...?

So, for weeks, or months even, nothing happens. And then ANTI drops a little bomb shell. A cluster bomb even, with three interesting parts.

First;

Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards - has been certified gold by the RIAA and will be released on vinyl by Anti- Records in the not-too-distant future.

And then; 

Waits and his long time collaborator and wife, Kathleen Brennan, have begun writing new songs, which they plan to record this summer for an upcoming CD. (No release date at this time.)

And finally;

Currently, Tom Waits is in the midst of filming The Book of Eli, directed by Albert and Allen Hughes (...). Eli is a post-apocalyptic Western, in which a lone man fights his way across America in order to protect a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving mankind. The film stars Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman with Tom Waits in a small role as 'Engineer'.
