Exposition: 12 until 14 October, (10 am - 4 pm)
Auction: 16 October (8 pm)
Location: Christie's, Cornelis Schuytstraat 57, Amsterdam (The Netherlands)

(*) signed by Mr. Corbijn, I presume, not by Mr. Waits.

And talking about Mr. Corbijn: the infamous Tom Waits book is now scheduled for December 14th. 2012 that is.  But we have heard that a few times before, of course...

Corbijn book postponed

"We regret to inform you that we have been unable to obtain the following item: Anton Corbijn 'Tom Waits'". That is the message Amazon.co.uk sends me after leaving me several months in the lurch about the hard cover picture book by Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn.

Publisher Schirmer/Mosel, which previoulsy mentioned a release date of October 2009, now claims "this book will be available on Tuesday 18 May, 2010".

Corbijn book (again)

I waited some time to post this, because it was announced - and postponed - more than once, but this time, it just might com true: the long-awaited Waits book by Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn.

From the Schirmer-Mosel site:
Tom Waits and Anton Corbijn are a perfect artist - artist match. Their 30-year collaboration now yields this book of ca. 200 portraits and a significant 48 page contribution of words and images by Tom Waits.

More details coming soon.

Expected publication date: October 2010
From the Schirmer-Mosel online book store (where it costs 75 euro):
{...} 160 pages, 75 colour and duotone plates, 21 x 28 cm, hardcover.

Amazon.com still lists September 15, 2009 (!) as the release date but claims it is "Out of Print--Limited Availability".

Magazine Gaffa says the release of the book is to coincide with the premiere of Richard III, the play wich opens in Amsterdam in September. Some of the photos will be exhibited in the theater on that occasion, so the Danish magazine and record company ANTI announce.

Alternative version of Hoist that rag on Most wanted man soundtrack?

According to a comment on IMDB, an alternative version of Hoist that rag is used during the end credits of the Anton Corbijn movie A most wanted man.

Corbijn and Waits share a history of course (most notably the wonderful picture book Anton Corbijn / Tom Waits '77-'11), but I can't find any further confirmation. In any case, the OST available on Amazon does not list Hoist that rag at all.

Waits as calendar boy

Tom Waits is one of the musical icons featured on the limited edition charity calendar issued by HMV.

His picture by Anton Corbijn brightens up November 2010 with a quote from Dylan Thomas' A visit to grandpa's:
You're a weak little pony Jim to pull big men like us
The 'My Inspiration' calendar can be found in HMV, Waterstones and on hmv.com for £7.99 Proceeds of the 18-month 2009/10 calendar are going to CLIC Sargent, an organisation supporting for children and young people with cancer.

Talking about Corbijn, looks like the release date for his book with Waits pictures is postponed till April next year. No dates announced over at Amazon yet.

The Corbijn picture book

I mentioned this first way back in August 2009, but now it seems as if the Anton Corbijn book with Tom Waits pictures might actually be published in the near future.

TomWaits.com says the linen slipcase book (limited to 6,600 copies), is scheduled for a May 8th release in US and Europe by German publisher Schirmer-Mosel.

The book ($199.99 / €158,36) can be pre-ordered at Schirmer-Mosel or the Tom Waits store.

Errhm.. Corbijn... You know...

It seems like every single month we get an updated publication date of the Anton Corbijn picture book about Tom Waits. Yes, I've written this before, but it's still true: the latest news is the publication has been pushed back to November 2011. But don't hold your breath.

What is new, I think, is the fact that it is a 'limited edition of 6,000 copies'.

Corbijn book already published?

I'm not sure what to think about the release date of Anton Corbijn's picture book.

Publisher Schirmer/Mosel says the book will be available in April, 2010, but Amazon.co.uk, seems to have it in stock and claims it is "usually dispatched within 1 to 2 weeks".

And according to Amazon.com the book says "out of print -- limited avialability".
