Tour filming

The European shows were filmed, probably not for a live dvd, but rather for ,,personal use''.

Where did you get that information?

I've seen several camera's at two shows (Antwerp and the second Amsterdam show) myself and several other people have commented on filming at the other shows. Seeing as the filming was rather fragmentary, it's rather unlikely we'll see the release of a complete recording of one single show. There might be enough material for a compilation, but comments by the venues' staff and camera crew during the tour seem to indicate the material will rather be used for a (private) documentary.

Or we might get a box with dvd's of the complete eight European shows of course.

Hey Eyeball Kid,
just wanted to thank you for all the informations you posted the last weeks. You gave me a good time, especially after having seen the Berlin shows and not being able to believe that it's allready over and he might not come again for next 5 years...

Henk,

There were two cameras at the Apollo gig too.

However, I know (from an excellent source) that Tom has ensured for many years now that all his shows are recorded on video so that he can subsequently watch them with a view to improving on future preformances - lighting, set order, sound etc. So the presence of cameras at a TW gig is not in itself indicative of anything other than TW is a very professional, committed performer.

Maybe He should spend some time memorizing his lyrics first…

Has he been flubbing some lyrics on this tour?

Almost every song for the concert I saw, some songs he’d leave out an entire verse, but I like it.

He's probably forgotten more lyrics that 99% of other songwriters will ever write in their lifetimes -- could be an occupational hazard of spending 30+ years as a prolific musical genius.

Happens all the time with performing artists, not a big deal. I don't think performers don't 'memorize' or 'learn' their lyrics; the words just 'stay with them' after having written the song, sometimes they'd change them, sometimes omit words, repeat others, etc. I think that's a perfectly natural part of performance.

I gotta agree with that. He sang the 'there ain't no pretty girls in France' verse twice on the Paris show I saw in 2000. First of all that ain't true and secondly, that wasn't a coincidence...

I've often wondered about that lyric. I assume it to mean that Uncle Violet flying as a pilot was about as likely to be true as the suggestion that there are no pretty girls in France. However, I'm sure I've also heard TW sing it differently as "Uncle Violet flew as a pilot, he says there ain't no pretty girls in France". The Lyrics page on this wonderful site confirms the former. Saw the 3rd Amsterdam show and it was amazing- although I'm sure the gits with flash cameras denied us Johnsburg, Illinois and Day After Tomorrow. Thanks to the Eyeball Kid for this superb resource!

And can you give an adress of those "camera flashing people" too please? They stole us indeed at least 1 Tom Waits song....

They need to be......lectured!

haha whoops, was wondering what the little icon under my name was and it turned out to be a trash thing to delete my post... here it is anyway:

"Anyone know how to contact the guy who stole the Alice demos out of Tom's car?"

heh, i wish they'd give a lecture on how they find this shit

I have a great audio recording of the show, which is fantastic quality, but I haven't seen any DVD's doing the rounds yet. Please don't tease - tell me where I can score this gem!
