To post comment, you need to be a "registred user" from now on. Not something I really want to impose on you all, but I was getting tired of deleting the "Keep Tom off the internet" comments. The advantage is, that guy (or girl) called "Anonymous" wil have to come out of the closet.

Could you do me the courtesy of letting me know what kind of "keep tom etc..." posts you mean? Not sure that I understand.
"FREE TOM FROM THE INTERNET."
HIS MUSIC HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR ONLINE BULLSHIT. KEEP HIM IN YOUR HEART, WHERE HE BELONGS.
AND FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, DON'T MAKE TOM WAITS RING TONES EITHER?
YOU WANNA COMMODIFY HIM, JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER ARTIST OUT THERE?
REAL WAITS FANS DON'T MAKE WEBSITES OR BLOGS ABOUT HIM.
FREE TOM!!!!"
This was the latest in a series of similar comments on various posts. I didn't have a problem with the first one - it's an opinion as valid as the next one - but after a dozen or so, I sort of got the point. Never could stand those caps either.
Good God! I don't blame you, Eyeball.
I'd like a ring tone of Downtown train. Thus is Tom my prisionner? Good!!!
Must be the same person who was posting similar diatribes on Radical Wacko's blog... Did a Tom Waits website kill his dog or something?
I'm so sorry man that he has moved over here. I figured he had gotten bored and slunk back to his parent's basement.
This sort of behavior follows that juvenile pattern of wanting to horde your favorite artists. The idea that the more exposure they get, the less cool they will be in the future.
I suppose that applies to bands like Weezer, but certainly not Mr. Waits.
I just got my own blog which I do
NOT want but it's a small price to be able to continue posting on my favorite site.Thankx eyeball kid for not stopping the blog.
What do the Waits police expect us to do. Write letters or call each other to talk about him. Would that be allowed? We don't have the power to commercialize him. (I could be wrong but I don't think commodify is a word) Only Waits himself can do that, and we know that isn't going to happen. Where did they get their information about the orphans tour?
I do have a problem though, with ringtones in general. What I can't comprehend is that there is actually a ringtone industry. Isn't there copyright issues with that anyway?
Us Tom Waits fans are few and far between, and its nice to have fellow fans to talk to, and its nice to have a blog that gets all the news very fast. I'm glad this bog exists.
It's good that you're taking action.
Mostly I just wanted to say that it's great to have this blog around. I'd been looking around for a while to find a place to get Tom Waits news as it happens.
Now if only there were one of these for Nick Cave as well, then I could live happy...
Did you ever notice.
The more capitalization you see in a comment usually is an indicator of a higher percentage of dopiness?
Oh it's true.
Thus,
Should you always attempt communication in Capital letters.
You are always a goof.
The Eyeball kid rules.
regards.
HA HA dopey yes.Couldn't agree more, however you must remember drunken ?bufoons? sometimes TYPE IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW WHEN YOU'RE DRUNK, YOU TYPE LOUDER!!!!!!!... Oh, boy, I feel like a jerk.
Hey Eyeball Kid I can't thank you enough for all you have given the Waits community! You probably don't know how many people you have touched.
I have been lurking for about a year. I always check to see what's new in Tom's world and when you posted about Tom's new tour I followed it carefully and was able to see Tom at 3 gigs this tour. Because of your Blog!
So you helped fulfill a wish of mine to see Tom before I die, lol. Words can't even describe how great the shows were!
Anyhow as for the "TROLLS" your handling right.
My hats off to you EyeBall Kid! Keep up the great work, loving it more than you know!
*wonders if this has any connection with recent issues on my tomwaitsfan.com forums*
blackrider23 aka JJ Are you having server problems? Or were you hacked? A lot of raindogs miss your forum. :(
I dont know for sure yet. Right before the crash I was getting over 50000 sql requests in a day (which is in-freakin-sane). I am trying to get someone at my hosting site that will understand the questions I am asking... which is a bit harder than it sounds.
I will try to get them back up one way or another very soon. I do have a fairly recent DB backup.
I believe that Eyeball kid, blackrider23, Sarah V. etc. are all doing an incredible and difficult job with the blogs, info, and understanding. I don't believe that a dog has been killed by a website, at least not yet. Do whatever you need to do to maintain your high levels of work, and of course your sanity. I for one would truely miss checking in occasionally to find out what's happening.
Good news that you have a backup blackrider23! Good luck with the hosting site people. Keep after them you will eventually get the amswers you need. When pushed I push back twice as hard, don't give up! I truly enjoy your forum. Looking forward to enjoying the forum sometime in the near future.
Good news!
I managed to get the TWF forums back up. I dont think it corresponded w/ the spammer. It turned out to be a difficult to track SQL corruption.
Back in business!
