Waits III

Dutch actor Gijs Scholten van Aschat will be playing the leading role in an Orkater/Amsterdamse Stadsschouwburg production of William Shakespeare's Richard III. Director Matthijs Rümke and Orkater profoundly reworked the play and used Waits/Brennan music - apparently with Mr. Waits' permission. According to TomWaits.com, songs performed in the play included Misery Is The River Of The World, God’s Away On Business, I Don’t Wanna Grow Up,  I’ll Shoot The Moon, Underground and The Part You Throw Away.

The play will premiere on September 25th 2010 in the Stadsschouwburg in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and is scheduled from September 22nd through Ocotber 12th (except Sept. 27th and Oct. 4 and 10). Tickets via www.ssba.nl.

A special site - www.richard3.nl/ - announces a whole range of activities to celebrate this performance: debates, meet&greets with people involved, music, parties,...

Thanks to Raindog Harry for pointing this one out.
