Videos - live and commercial

Youtube.com lists about 21 Tom Waits videos. Some appear to be shot at concerts, others from television shows, including the great Fernwood Tonight segment. A few are videos made for MTV, or whatever. One or two have been re-worked to a bit of a surreal effect.

I've already downloaded the most of that videos on the eMule. But thanks anyway. 8)

Thank you, thank you, thank you! When you go to that website, you have to watch "Eggs and Sausage" followed by an interview on a 1970s Mike Douglas show! Marvin Hamlisch and Glenda Jackson are also guests, and they look on askance as Tom chain smokes and cracks jokes in response to Douglas's straight-man questions. Hilarious!

Should be good - I have about 30 Waits clips (and the whole of Big Time). Time to share!

Posted half a dozen new ones up there... as long as we're sharing :-)

Pity they downsize the resolution so much, though.

A disappoint for me - maybe my broadband connection is to slow, but the stop/start quality of the videos is infuriating! Also, I've tried uploading several Waits videos but to no avail: the confirmation never appears on screen.

Sounds like you may have problems with your connection, the videos are fairly low res / low bandwidth so if you can't even download them in real time, you've got issues with your broadband. The upload is probably a similar problem - I was able to upload quite large files (60MB+) in about half an hour.

What you can do is start the video, and then hit pause while it downloads the whole thing, then play it after it's finished downloading (I think it fills up the gray bar to indicate how much it has downloaded). That should keep it from stopping and starting while you watch it.

Thanks, Sarah. Things had improved before I'd seen your reply, but your advice is well-taken. I've posted a few Waits clips up there now (not to mention Leonard Cohen).

Am I right in thinking that the copy I have of the animated 'Tom Waits For No Man', which I've uploaded, is fairly rare?

I've also uploaded Walking Spanish, Blow Wind Blow, Ain't Going Down To The Well/Gun Street Girl, Jockey Full Of Bourbon and a snippet of Sweet Little Bullet.

These are all great and the clips are a real testamint (sic) to Waits' boundless talent, but I have doubts about posting them on such a public forum: won't this make it even more difficult to record/film his performances in future? Just a thought...
