Who remembers Holly

Richard Crawford has published a short story with some Waits references in The Harrow. The piece, entitled Who remembers Molly, is also available on line.

'The stereo was playing the opening bars of Tom Waits's 9th and Hennepin when I opened the front door and stepped in to Beau's and made my way to the bar.'

Love it, thanks for posting it!

I hate the stories people write about Tom Waits characters listening to Tom Waits songs. They always are only described as having gravelly voices and smoking and apparently that's all you need to tell a story someone wants to read.

At the very least just write AS Tom Waits, write some lowlife southerner character finding bones over the plowed earth, whatever.

THAT HAVING BEEN SAID, This story was quite enjoyale, and a quite clever twist on the standard story, evoking a real dreamy sense of the Molly character that was actually creepy. I salute this.
