Well, if you figure Tom has to get home and approve the master no sooner than mid-August, and then the CDs have to be maybe fixed, then manufactured and packaged, then shipped to record stores, mid- to late November isn't unrealistic.
Not to be redundant, as I know this subject has undoubtly been speculated on, but what is imagined to be on this box set. Would it have concert footage as well? I guess it's impossible to know. Cheers.
I was at the Asheville show an afterwards they handed out ads from ANTI- regarding the Orphans. Like the previous comment stated, it does say "Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards. 3-disc set in stores November 21."
"In April 2006 Tom confirmed that his next album would be the long awaited "Orphans" box set and rarities saying in an interview for the LA Daily News on April 23rd 2006:
"We're doing a thing called "Orphans,"a lot of songs that fell behind the stove while making dinner, about 60 tunes that we collected. Some are from films, some from compilations. Some is stuff that didn't fit onto a record, things I recorded in the garage with the kids. Oddball things, orphaned tunes.
According to ANTI Waits' record label, concert reviews and recent concert goers "Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards Tom Waits 3-disc Box set will be in stores on November 21."

An add for Grimey's record shop here in Nashville has this listed in today's Nashville Scene:
"orphans: brawlers, bawlers, & bastards.
three 3-disc set in stores november 21st"

Cool!!! what did the adds look like?
@ Justin: any chance of sending me a scanned image of those ads?
Has it occurred to anybody else that perhaps Big Time hasn't dropped on DVD yet for the sole purpose of including it in the box set?
Not wanting to start any rumors or anything. It just hit me a little while ago.
I think that if the ads says that box includes three disc...there will not be a dvd.

Here's some more info from Wikipedia:
