If she has the wispy voice claimed by Fox News, it could be a really interesting album.

There is no doubt in my mind that someday someone, maybe like this, is going to open the channel between Tom Waits and the massive audience his music deserves -- including those, for reasons I don't understand, can't take his vocal style. It would be a bit sad to see him lose his cult status, but the man really deserves to be at the top. And you think it's tough to get tickets to his concerts now ......

Hm, the most beautiful woman in hollywood singing tom waits? Thats worth checking out. She has more class than the likes of jenifer lopez or those simspon girls. This could definately work.

Im of the opinion that this wont be worth a nickel. Scarlett is looking everyways at the moment and everywhere with little talent. She has the promise of some charm but delivered rather awkwardly. Are we suppose to believe she knows what she is doing.

Have a listen to her version of Gershwin's "Summertime". It appeared on an album called "Unexpected Dreams: Songs from the Stars" (to these ears she sounds like the British jazz singer Stacy Kent).

I have to dissagree with you Hugo, I think she has more than a fair amount of talent and tons of charm. I think she stands out among her peers and deserves a fair chance at this. Better her than Ashley Simpson!

Correction: "...she sounds like the British jazz singer Stacy Kent". Stacey Kent is originally from New York...and i omitted the letter "e" from her name!

She does indeed sound like Stacey Kent, a bit less nasal though. A lot will depend on the songs, I guess - the older material should work well with her voice. I can't see her covering Kommienezuepadt or 16 Shells...

Tom and Scarlett can both truthfully sing, "I look good without a shirt."
