What a disappointment. Country humbug.

I couldn't disagree more. The album(s) arrived in the post today. Brilliant stuff.

This album has blown me away. Country music as horror film, or rather, as the score to an imaginary horror film - complete with devilish illustrations inside the cover and chilling spoken narratives, chants and sound effects punctuating the hillbilly bluegrass and bonkers Cajun tunes. The whole album can be listened to at these links. 'Southern Comfort' and 'Deliverance' ... on acid. Start with disc 2. Devilishly good.

Hank Williams lll (yep, grandson of THE Hank Williams) is also the main man (guitar and vocals) in punk metal band Assjack and the drummer for hardcore punk outfit Arson Anthem. And he used to play bass for metal band Superjoint Ritual. If that doesn't sound like your bag, don't let it put you off.
