You lucky bastards (I'm too pissed off to add an exclamation mark). I now have a bootleg DVD of the 23/11/04 London Hammersmith Apollo gig, but as wonderful as it is to possess such an item it's cold comfort for a man who spent 3 hours on the phone trying to get a ticket for Tom's first UK show for 17 years. Bugger!
Orphans has been delayed in Australia until October (Shock Records). If you think the UK had it bad, Waits hasn't been to Australia since the 70's Small Change Tour... but I'm still paitently waiting (pun intended). Thankfully there has been a great covers show recently.
"Will there be any American Express Gold seat pre-sale tickets goin on sale first?"
You can rest assured I'll be hoping and praying, for the sake of American Express Gold card-holders in general and yourself in particular, that this is indeed the case.
Last time the North American dates were a mixed bag - the Vancouver Orpheum show was standard Ticketmaster fodder; the Commodore show you could only buy at the venue in person with a positive ID after you signed a contract (sweartogod) and I think the Seattle show had some kind of special midnight sale at one Tower Records, IIRC (I don't remember the details of that one - it might have been some tickets available at Tower and some on Ticketmaster or something).
I didn't hear anything about gold-card tickets last time, I think that would really tick off some fans... they seem to be very interested in anti-scalping measures and having the best seats available to people with gold cards is probably not a part of that anti-scalping strategy.
When he played London in 2004 they were only available from the venues own booking lines. I was on the phone solid for about 100 minutes before getting through. I managed to get 2 tickets (that's the maximum they would sell to anybody) right at the back in the gods. I believe it sold out minutes after that. Strangely though I managed to get 2 tickets to see Tom in Paris in 2000 fairly easily (not even the day they went on sale)... I guess you never know.

I'm thinking that the Orphans cd must be coming out - else why the tour - anyone heard anything about a date for that release?

25th October is the latest date for the release of Orphans in the US ( as advised to record shops)
Nothing official from the record company as such, so we will have to wait and see ( as usual )
These dates have been known to change before.

Oh boy! And I have to go to Toronto sometime in the next few months. I wonder what the chances are of combining the two...
Sweet!
Man, I hope he comes to Minneapolis! Im not missing it for the world!
Announced *where* exactly?
I'm not missing out like I did in '04.
Toronto radio is saying two nights....early August
it's going to be early august...10 shows...i've heard rumors of 4 of those shows being in the southeast.
Philly? hell though, i'll fly anywhere I can get a ticket to
Tickets are going to be ridiculously hard to get. Not impossible, of course.
Oh god, no! I'll be in Spain half of August! I guess I'll just be praying as hard as I can that he'll save the west coast for the very end...
Are the tickers going to be sold through Tickmaster? If so will there be any American Express Gold seat pre-sale tickets goin on sale first?
